Satellite Modems

Tachyon's satellite modems have been designed for remote, transportable and Comms-on-the-Move (COTM) broadband requirements. Tachyon's modem technology is built around the aXiom Services Platform (ASP). The ASP enables our modems to deliver extremely fast network connectivity through high-fidelity link performance (<10-10 bit error rate) and patented pre-fetch technologies. Satellite uplink power margins are continuously monitored and standards compliance is maintained via a protocol proxy for seamless enterprise application performance. A highly efficient integrated satellite router, combined with our proprietary network transport technology, mitigates latency and ensures fast, reliable broadband communications. The modem constantly and dynamically adapts to maximize power levels and data rates, even in changing environmental conditions.

Aside from advanced HTTP/UDP acceleration and routing, the ASP subsystem enables onboard components crucial to airborne COTM applications to seamlessly interoperate with multiple antenna systems. The ASP has allowed Tachyon to integrate best-in-class equipment from multiple vendors, enabling a technology-agnostic end-to-end satellite COTM solution that is unmatched in the industry.

COTM Modems - aXiom 9000 Series Airborne Terminals

Tachyon has developed the aXiom 9000 Series of aeronautical communications terminals. These terminals and their suite of custom network management tools have been designed to address high-speed COTM, specifically the complex aeronautical applications such as HD full-motion video in the return direction.

The aXiom 9300 achieves airborne data transmission rates of 10Mbps x 2.8Mbps through an Ultra Small Aperture Terminal (USAT), operating in Ku-band beams. Our aXiom 9300 terminal provides customers with the ability to upload full-motion HD video while in flight, using a compact 18-inch antenna.

The aXiom 9600 is an ultra-broadband, extremely compact and lightweight terminal that meets the most
rigorous demands for mobility and security. The 9600 supports data, voice and video connectivity in highly mobile military and government applications such as airborne Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR) and achieves data rates up to 12 Mbps (Forward), 85 Mbps (Return).

Rack Mount Modems - CI1300

The aXiom 1300 is a fixed VSAT system for long term or permanent service needs. The CI1300 Satellite Modem delivers extremely fast network connectivity through high-fidelity link performance (<10-10 bit error rate) and patented pre-fetch technologies. Uplink power margins on the terminals are continuously monitored and standards compliance is maintained via a protocol proxy for seamless enterprise application performance. The highly efficient, integrated satellite router combined with our proprietary network transport technology mitigates latency to ensure fast, reliable broadband communications. The system constantly and dynamically adapts, to maximize power levels and data rates, even in changing environmental conditions.

Ruggedized Modem

Tachyon's Remote Mobile Gateway (RMG) redefines transportable satellite networks, with a flexible, compact form factor that is ruggedized to withstand the harshest environmental conditions. The RMG integrates Cisco's industry-leading enterprise router and switch technologies with Tachyon's enterprise VSAT modem to provide broadband access, mobility and interoperability across multiple wired and wireless networks. The result is secure data, voice, and video communications in both mobile and outdoor embedded networks.

The RMG's standards-based mobile IP also delivers transparent roaming for full coverage over wide geographic areas, and seamlessly combines Tachyon's guaranteed QoS-based services with Cisco's IPICIS interoperability suite.
