A Technology-Agnostic Approach for Fixed, Portable and Comms-on-the Move (COTM) Solutions
As a part of our aXiom end-to-end solutions, Tachyon provides complete VSAT equipment solutions used by customers in a variety of applications and scenarios. These range from the US Army Airborne Command who need to transmit mission critical data, voice and video in real-time from air to ground, to major energy companies such as Shell and Iberdrola who require reliable, ruggedized solutions for their remote sites, to events and entertainment companies such as NASCAR, ESPN and MTV who require portable, easy-to-deploy solutions.
aXiom solutions use a common commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) hub architecture that incorporates a technology-agnostic satellite gateway, which can interface with most mobile air, land and sea platforms. To ensure a truly platform-agnostic approach with these different types of moving vehicles, aXiom terminal router solutions support commonly-used legacy air, land and sea chassis styles. More importantly, depending on the environment and application, aXiom solutions integrate the following COTM-specific components:
- field-swappable remote terminal modem equipment manufactured by various industry suppliers and waveform technology suppliers, each mounted onboard the requisite air/land/sea mobile platform with matching form factor. For example, the aXiom 9300 terminal router incorporates the iDirect iConnex e850mp satellite modem board.
- antenna and antenna control units
- a satellite hub interface on the ground, which corresponds to any or all of the remote terminal hardware and includes the aXiom Services Platform (ASP)
- the network operations center (NOC)
- the space segment used by the COTM terminal regardless of operating spectrum or frequency band, namely, Ku, Ka or X-band
